Getting into a bit of a routine working on the house now, and my hands are starting to pick up some tool induced callouses! We’ve been splitting our time between what will be our computer room upstairs and the guest rooms, though with only two weeks before our first guests to use the rooms we really need to ensure they get priority. Besides our removal van is not due for another week or so yet so no rush on having our rooms ready. Though judging by the time it’s taken us to do the small office the main room will be weeks! And that’s after we’ve split the bedroom off from what will be the geeked out living space.
We also seem to get some excellent thunderstorms on Bornholm! Not sure if that’s usual or we’ve just been lucky. I do love a good thunderstorm, there’s something about them that help me to remember how small we are even on our own planets scale, let alone the universe.
The rain drums down onto the tiles clinging to the roof, the wind forcing the trees into constant howls, their leaves quivering against the night. It is a good time to be at ones rest.
We had a bit of a minor panic the other day when we went to register myself for residency in Denmark, it seems things are not as straight forward as they were for Linda when she chose to stay in the UK. There is still an acceptance process to go thought, and at first it looked like being married wasn’t enough of a reason on it’s own, however on second reading with the official we worked out it should be a valid reason. However we are also going to wait for the house sale to go through so I can show that money in my bank account as additional support to show I’ll not be claiming benefits from the get go. I’m sure all will be fine, but it an extra hurdle we thought being in the EU got us over anyway.
In house terms we are making progress on the guest wing (wing sounds so overly grand but I don’t know what else to call it!) the main room is now ready for a new floor, and the second room has it first couple of ceiling coats on. By the end of next week they should both be ready to go, plus the hall way. The main room/dinner might take a little longer though the windows are being repaired by Jørgen and myself.
All in all though things are good and starting to come together. Onward!
It’s our third full day on Bornholm and my hayfever is a little out of control. I’d assumed, wrongly, that the pollen her would not effect me as much being different so hadn’t built up my immunity with tablets. So now I’m on daily tablets and nasal spray until I get things under control, but that only takes a few days usually and its coming and going in waves.
Been checking out a fair few bits of furniture for our living area and it should look pretty cool when its all come together but a fair bit of room preparation is required first.
But life here certainly feels good 🙂
